I read the reviews and expected good things out of this headset and it turned out to be better than I expected. It paired wonderfully with my iPhone and now, no matter if I turn the bluetooth on the phone off and then back on, it pairs almost immediately. Sound is great on both ends. I used to have a crappy Motorola and people could ALWAYS tell I was on a headset, but not with this one. Can’t recommend it enough. The case is pretty sweet too. Nice to have the extra charge when you’re away from a plug for awhile.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He had a “learning curve” on how to fit the ear piece, but once he worked it out, he loves it! I love it! I can hear him perfectly when he uses it. His voice is clearer than when he uses his cell phone without it. We are both thrilled. The performance, size and ease of charging are the best.

When I opened the box I was a little surprised how small this unit was. Plus the way it fits in your ear is a little hard to believe. But…it works and works and works. The ability to only have power every other charge doesn’t seem like a big deal, but to someone who is on the phone all the time, it is really nice feature. Yes, it is pricey, but it works better than the cheaper units. In THIS case, you get what you pay for.

I got this bluetooth for my hubby for Christmas. He loves it, it works great. Shipment was fast, honest seller. But I just came back to order one for me and the price has dramatically increased! I paid in the $50s just a few weeks ago, which was a fantastic deal. Now, not so much. OUCH!

I love this headset. I have used Plantronics before and would have kept my other headset. I lost it. It was good but this one is more comfortable. It fits inside the ear. There is nothing hanging over my ear so my sunglasses fit while I am using it. The volume is so good I can hardly ever use the high volume because it is too loud even while driving the freeway. Wind reduction is great too. Buy it.

5 Stars Very Good
At first I was skeptical about how this item would help, but it has it’s own voice dialing that syncs with your phone via Blue Tooth. The voice dialing is the best I have ever used. The volume is good. People seem to be able to hear me properly. I have not had to charge it yet and I have used it about 2 weeks. The only thing that I don’t like is how far you have to get from the car to disconnect the Blue Tooth. The other option is a Parrot that would be installed in the car. This would cost at least $200 and feature better sound for me, automatic charging, and automatic off. I may just wait for my next car to have built in Blue Tooth.

5 Stars Great Voice Recognition and clear audio
I purchased this for my wife so she would not be reaching for her cell phone while driving. I had it professionally installed and bought a “Pro Mount” rather than the mounting bracket that came with the unit. Linking the phone to the device was easy and, even though the auto is a sporty T-Bird (2002), there is no background noise and the voice is loud and clear. The mic is mounted on the left windshield post with all wiring hidden. I recommend having an audio shop install it ($100 + 30 for the mount). It’s a good application of the Amazon discount. The radio interface is great!

5 Stars Better Than a Headset
Coupled with the install harness I found through Parrott, the LS3200 was a breeze to install myself.

Pros: Beats a headset hands down. Couple this unit with Blackberry and the voice recognition is awesome. Pretty much true hands free. The sound quality is great and most people can’t tell your in a car. I drive a large noisy truck and it still sounds awesome.

Cons: Has a hiccup every once in a great while. Might be more of an issue with my cycling though things too fast. I seem to be able to confuse the system. Fix is easy. . . give it a second and hit the hangup button. This usually sorts it out.

3 Stars Carefully check vehicle compatibility!!
This unit has worked really well on my 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring with the Navigation option. This is the most complex Odyssey audio package available with the built in DVD system that supports Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, etc. It has active amplification that is outside the car stereo “head unit” in the dashboard. If the Parrot is installed using any of the supposed ready made harnesses that allow integration of the Parrot and the car stereo, the sound from the Parrot will be a lot louder than tolerable. This is because the Parrot has its own amplifier and a little switching box that sits inside the dashboard when installed. This feeds into a “T” harness which essentially allows the Parrot to switch out the stereo and connect itself to your speakers when it is activated by a call. In any simpler stereo, this would be fine because this arrangement cuts out the car’s amplifier. In my car, the downstream amp makes the sound waaayyy too loud, no matter how you set the Parrot’s volume.

The solution, then, was to delete the harness I bought ($29.95) with the Parrot from Crutchfield’s and replace it with a much more expensive ($149.99) harness from Quickconnect products. This more expensive harness eliminates the Parrot harness and the extra aftermarket harness, but adds its own harness and yet another little electronic box that properly attenuates and switches the audio signals so that the resulting sound does not hurt you or your expensive audio system.

What if you don’t have an Odyssey Touring? Well, the point is that you may have some other fancy car audio system and you need to know what it’s layout and compatibility are before you buy this BT system or any other that patches directly into your audio. This was an expensive mistake for me, since if I had known about the nearly double cost, i would have just asked my wife (it’s her car) to just turn the radio off manually and use the cheapo Motorola BT clip on speaker we have when she needs to talk in the car. (CA handsfree law, you know).

Another reviewer commented that the installation instructions on the Parrot are bad. I would second that. I got through it OK, but I’m a long time electronics engineering nerd, and would say that if you are not an experienced car stereo installer or electronics kinda person, then get some pro help.

I unfortunately purchased this item on the recommendation of Crutchfield’s phone sales person and then was too busy to check it out before my 30 days return window ran out. This makes this an indictment of me as much as Crutchfield’s since I didn’t check it out sooner. I have found in the past that Crutchfield’s costs more, but was totally reliable in the advice and instructions department. They also have all onshore (US) based phone support and were helpful in diagnosing the issues. That said, they blew the initial recommendation, so a big Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) to all of you.

Conclusion: It all works great now, but it took twice as long and cost twice as much as I had hoped.

1 Star Too much hype… ignore it all.
I really thought I had made the best purchase based on the reviews. I think somebody was bought off. The sound on the other end is terrible and it pretty much sucks on my end too. I got nothing but complaints when using it. The icing on the cake was when its connector to the sun visor snapped off. I am chalking this one up to experience. If the review sounds too good and looks to slick to be true, it probably is. I just bought the new 3G iPhone which has an updated and outstanding speaker and mic system that gives me the best speaker phone I have ever used. I just lay it on up the dash under the glass and the people on the other end can’t tell me if I am moving or not. As usual, Apple knows how to do it right.

2 Stars Not worth it
The interface on this is brilliant, as far as when you receive a call, you lower the mic and it turns on and connects to the call which is great, however when I first got this the speaker wouldn’t work, after a little while it did. The quality was great on both ends, however the volume was not NEARLY loud enough, and after about 4 months the speaker has stopped working completely, so I just got the BlueAnt Supertooth Light Bluetooth Speakerphone and so far I love it! Works great and is PLENTY loud enough and sounds great!

The clip holding the phone and the clip broke within two days of use. A shoddy product.

2 Stars Bulky, microphone not so good and no speech technology
Generally a good device, but I returned it. I had trouble mounting it due to its bulkiness. I wanted it plugged in all the time so that I would not have to worry about it being discharged. Also, I had had complaints from people that I called that the microphone or DSP made me sound like I had my head in a coffee can. I returned it and went with the BlueAnt device. It mounted more conveniently, had no sound problem and has text to speech technology that aids in hands-free operation.

5 Stars My Experience with SurfaceSound Compact
I’ve noticed the majority of Amazon reviews are negative on this item. I feel compelled to write this review as my experience has been great with this product. I can’t speak for other people, but I bought this item because of iLounge.com’s Best of Show 2008 award and review. I bought the Bluetrek model from Expansys for around $50, I don’t know why Contour Design is selling it for $100. Anyway, as soon as I pull down the microphone,this pairs seamlessly with my iPhone every time. It pairs much more consistently than my $600 Alpine stereo with Bluetooth kit. The sound quality is very good, and the volume is LOUD. The design is very simple so it doesn’t attract attention. I’m picky, but I really love this product. The only problem I encountered was I misplaced the car charger, and didn’t know how to recharge this item as it appeared to use a proprietary plug. Now I know that the plug is microUSB, so I assume it can be charged with any microUSB-USB cable to any USB port.

5 Stars WEP500-A Good Headset
The Samsung WEP500 is, in my opinion, one of the best units that I’ve had. At first, I had trouble keeping it situated in my ear but, after reading reviews by other users, I ordered a set of Jabra EarGels…problem solved. As for the headset itself, sound quality is excellent(on both ends),and it easily paired with my RazrV9x.

Finally, the tiny size still has me amazed!

the ear piece brings three different types ear pieces for different size ears. its adjustable to fit either ear and a great bluetooth to have……..i just wish that it was smaller but maybe in a few years ……this is not a stereo bluetooth and will not play music from your phone….the motorola ones do by the way

3 Stars Very Annoying Auto Redial
As experienced by a few others, the auto redial feature is extremely annoying. While adjusting the position in your ear, it is so easy to activate the auto redial. I would usually keep it in my pocket so I am not wearing it all the time. Even while in my pocket it would activate the auto redial. This was just a bad design decision. I have the older WEP200 and the multi-function button in that one would activate Voice Command; that is a much better implementation.

Other than that, the voice quality is comparable to the WEP200. I think I will stick with my old WEP200 until I figure out a workaround to that auto redial annoyance.

UPDATE, 12/27/2008 — I just realized that I received a knock-off (probably made in China). I was in Fry’s this afternoon and I noticed that the genuine Samsung headsets have the ‘Samsung Original’ sticker with a hologram. The one I received did not have the Samsung hologram; it was just printed on the box. This headset is probably getting killed in the reviews by these knock-offs.

2 Stars I wanted to love it
I lost my WEP200 last year, and upgraded to the WEP500. Sadly, it’s impossible to insert the thing without pushing the super-touchy button. As luck would have it, I found and have gone back to my reliable (if clunkier) WEP200.
